Dr. Keith Smithson, OD

Dr. Keith Smithson is a respected sports vision specialist and optometrist. He serves as the Director of Visual Performance for the Washington Nationals, and is the team optometrist for the Washington Wizards, Spirit, Mystics, and D.C. United, as well as a sports vision consultant for the Washington Redskins and Washington Capitals.

Dr. Smithson helps athletes of all ages improve their performance through specialized vision consultations, and also provides visual and perceptual testing for children with learning difficulties and adults experiencing eyestrain or focusing problems. He is a leading expert in the evaluation and treatment of post-concussion vision syndrome and uses advanced technology to address such issues at Northern Virginia Doctors of Optometry.

He is the chair-elect of the Sports and Performance Vision Committee at the American Optometric Association and a member of the Virginia Optometric Association. Dr. Smithson obtained his education at the University of Delaware and the Pennsylvania College of Optometry, and sees patients at locations in Alexandria, Berryville, and Reston.
