Dr. Robin West is a highly experienced and board-certified orthopedic and sports medicine surgeon with over 20 years of clinical experience. She joined Inova Medical Group in 2014, and currently serves as the Chairman of Inova Sports Medicine, where she is responsible for directing the clinical, strategic, administrative and academic affairs of the program. Dr. West also serves as the Lead Team Physician for the Washington Nationals and has 18 years of experience in the NFL as the team physician for the Pittsburgh Steelers and Washington Commanders. In addition, she has served as a team physician for the University of Pittsburgh and Carnegie Mellon University athletic departments.
Dr. West holds an associate professor position at the University of Pittsburgh, Virginia Commonwealth University School of Medicine, and Georgetown University Medical Center. She is also active in several professional societies and currently serves on the board of directors of the NFL Physician’s Society and the NFL Scouting Medical Committee. She is also a member of the NFL and MLB Physicians' Societies, American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (AAOS), Arthroscopy Association of North America (AANA), and American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine (AOSSM). Dr. West also serves on the editorial board of Orthopaedics Today and was previously a deputy editor of the American Journal of Orthopaedics.
A native of Southern California, Dr. West currently lives in Northern Virginia with her husband, two daughters and two dogs. In her free time, she enjoys staying active by running, biking, hiking and participating in various races, including the Eagleman Ironman 70.3, Marine Corps Marathon, San Diego Rock ‘n Roll Marathon, Escape from Alcatraz Triathlon, and many others.
