Vision Problems After A Concussion

It’s no surprise that athletes are more likely to sustain concussions.  It may be a surprise to know that after a concussion, a high percentage of people will suffer from some form of visual dysfunction.  Symptoms will range from blurry and double vision, to less “obvious” visual changes that result in trouble with balance, headaches or even problems with memory and attention.  Symptoms may start immediately, but most often will flare at the 24-48 hour mark and persist for days, weeks, or even months and years in some patients that don’t receive proper care.

As Sports Vision Pros, part of our mission is to educate not only our athletes but also other professionals about ways to make our patient care even stronger.  Vision can not only be a key to helping patients recover from brain injury symptoms, but even more importantly, a key to helping them avoid injuries in the first place.    A visual system that is strong and efficient can assure that athletes are able to generate the appropriate muscle tension to brace for an impact or avoid a collision.

Please take advantage of these resources for athletes and professionals that want to learn more about the roll vision has on concussion recovery.  Please let us know if you have other questions and would like to learn more.
